Check you inverter App or onboard screen

First place to look for an inverter fault in the app found with most modern inverters. For older inverters you need to look at the onboard screen. You can easily download you inverter manual from the internet to assist.

Inverter fault codes

Your inverter will let you know what the fault is by displaying a fault code. You can find these codes in your inverter manual.

Is your inverter power on?

You need to go the fuseboard and make sure the circuit breaker is on. You should also check its not a RCD main switch that has tripped. You should also have an additional inverter rotary isolator and make sure you have lights on the PV generation meter.

Try and reset the inverter

This is best performed during daylight hours. You need to isolate the power by either switching off the circuit breaker or the rotary isolator. Once power is off wait 15 minutes and put the inverter back on.

Inverter still not working?

Time to phone an expert then. Take a note of the manufacturer, model and serial number. If the inverter is still under warranty then phone the manufacturer. If its out with the warranty you need an experienced solar pv installer to help.

Can I replace the inverter myself?

I would not even think about doing that.
