R.B. Grant History

R.B. Grant Electrical Contractors, established in 1974, supply electrical services around Scotland. The company was founded by Ronnie Grant after serving his apprenticeship with a local St Andrews electrical business. In 1995 the company became a family business when Ronnie Grant Jr started his apprenticeship with the company. Over the years the company has grown strongly and now employs around 60 electricians.

RB Grant are  qualified electricians providing electrical, security, solar panel and fire alarm services to domestic, commercial and industrial customers. Our clients range from home owners, local authorities, NHS, hotels, office, museums, restaurants, MOD and housing associations.

We have a successful apprenticeship program, our third year apprentice qualified for the World Skills competition in February 2010. Over the years we have had a number of apprentice of the years for college and the SJIB competition with a silver and a bronze in the last 5 years. We also provide work placements for Adam Smith college students, the ‘Getting Back to Work’ scheme and local schools.

In 2013 we partnered with Fife Council’s  innovative Opportunities Fife scheme. We employed five local 16 to 24 year old from 180 applications to serve a 3 year apprenticeship in electrical installation.

Ronnie Grant Jr was a director with the Fife Construction Forum. The forum actively promotes construction in Fife. It provides links between contractors, clients and support agencies. It ensures Fife contractors benefit from local contracts and are kept abreast with current standards and building methods.

In 2014 Ronnie Grant Snr decided to retire after 45 years in the electrical industry leaving his son to run the company. RB Grant electrical contractors was incorporated as RB Grant Ltd..
