Three phase electric power generates electricity using alternating currents. A 3 phase system is more economical then other installations as it  uses less conductor material to transmit electric power than single-phase, two-phase, or direct-current systems at the same voltage.

3 phase motors

RB Grant have 38 years experience installing and maintaining 3 phase motors and associated control circuits. From direct on line to star delta our electricians have the experience to design , install and repair. We specialise in repair and maintenance to stop starts , overloads and emergency stops. Our electricians are kept up to date with the current electrical regulations and the health and safety at work act. 3 phase motor circuits require emergency stop buttons suitably placed to prevent accident and damage. Many older 3 phase installations will not be compliant with current regulations. All 3 phase electrical installations should be tested every 5 years or less depending on the building type and use.

3 phase balancing

It is very important that all loads are balanced within a 3 phase installation. When the electrical circuits are installed within a building the electrician should balance all loads between phases. We often find after years of additions and alterations that loads can become unbalanced. Unbalanced loads will cause issues within an electrical system and should be rectified. It will actually cost more to run an electrical system with an unbalanced load and cause harmony issues. It is also common for fuses to blow on 1 phase which will stop the associated single phase and all 3 phase circuits.
